Words and Wool

The Garter Leaves Shawl is blocking as I type. I'm very pleased with it. I like the crescent shape a lot and need to find another pattern with the same crescent or I will just have to keep making these!

Also began some crochet flowers/roses this week. They are smaller than I envisioned. We shall see what I do with them.....

I do love embroidery and took some time out to stitch the name of a new baby to a burp cloth.

Otherwise, I am in between a bunch of projects and need to get into my craft closet and tidy things up so I can pull things out for the next round of knitting. Maybe I will have some to report on next week!

As for reading:

Missee Lee: The Swallows and Amazons in the China Seas (Godine Storyteller) The children and I started this next book in the Swallows and Amazons series last night. I think we have about three more books to go?

Books continue to be scattered everywhere in my room as I am preparing for our "summer school". We are off to the library this afternoon and I think there are 17 books waiting for me. I can't wait!

A crescent shaped shawl that a lot of us at work make is The Hitchhiker from Ravelry. You might want to check that one out.

That is lovely Heather, I can see why you would want to make another. Love the yarn choice too. And on the subject of yarn, I would love to have a poke through your collection, it looks very interesting!
Happy stitching x

The yarn you chose is perfect for that shawl! Is that a surfeit of felted bags I see?? Gasp!

The shawl is lovely, the leaves add so much - crescents are my favorite

That is beautiful! Look up Vintage Fremont on Ravelry. I don't know if it's the same crescent shape you want, but it is asymetrical. I made one a while ago and I love it!

What?! I didn't know Swallows and Amazons was a series. My husband just pulled out our copy a few days ago and recommended it to me since I have never read it, so I am planning to pick it up one of these days, and that is fun to know there are more than one.

Your shawl is gorgeous, and the colors are some of my favorites ever. I want to spend time in your craft closet, it looks really fun!

A glimpse of a map in the photo of your crochet flowers, looks like you are busy making plans for Scotland too. The children must be getting excited now.

Ah, we are part way through the S&A series as well! In fact, there has been some Jolly Roger flag making going on just this morning! What do you plan to do for your summer school? I picked up on a summer school from pinterest and tried a one-week version when we had a break recently - it worked really well! I love the shawls btw - I'm managing to resist starting one until I've finished a few more w-i-p's! Thanks for sharing!

Shawl looks great and always nice to see a pattern that works for variegated yarn. I'm pretty sure I have Garter Leaves in my Rav library...
