Words and Wool

I scheduled a personal appointment with my yarn counselor this morning so that I could get a few shawls going and things picked out for our trip later this summer. I'm so happy to say that the apt. was successful and I now have a wonderful list of projects. The best thing is that I will be able to use yarn I already have!

I did make one yarn purchase this weekend though. I walked into my local yarn shop and saw this Ella Rae merino in some of my favorite colors. The skein said "Scotland". So I'll be taking this yarn with me to turn into a shawl.

In case you are wondering, here are the shawls I wrote down to go with the yarn I have:

And here are the books that are lying around my house:

Really enjoying the House at Tyneford at the moment....

Can't wait to tell you more about Glimpses of Grace:

Are you going to Scotland? My husband and I honeymooned there and *loved* it! I'm so excited for you! Lovely yarn and wonderful books - everything looks great!

I love the yarn called Scotland. My favorite sweater is the one Steph brought back from Ireland, the yearn is a lavender heather.

I didn't read at all when I was experiencing bad vertigo. It's getting better so I think I'll make it to my scheduled doctor's appt on Tuesday without going to urgent care.

That means dusting off the summer books I have planned to read! You always give me new authors to try. :)

Pop Spots has been on my radar for a while. I like that one and some of the garter stripes ones I have seen around. There is something about a brand new ball of yard or yard of fabric that is so full of possibilities.

The yarn that makes you think of Scotland is very pretty. You will be in Scotland when the heather is in full bloom - how appropriate!

That's a great pile of books. I used to watch the "All Creatures Great and Small" PBS series with my mom and grandmother (both English). I really should try the books. Do you think they would be appropriate for a 12.5 year old? I'm wondering if my older son might like them.

I have no idea what a yarn counselor could possibly be but it sounds wonderful! I love your piles of books - looks like my house except not quite as many active reads as you with all those bookmarks sticking out! I would go crazy simply trying to decide which to pick up at any given moment! Thanks for the tip about Swallows and Amazons - I kind of wonder if my husband knows there are several. I also love James Herriot, and my young girls were just perusing the gorgeous illustrated children's version of a collection of his stories this morning. I love that the vocabulary is really still to hard for them as we learn many new words with each story.
