Happy 4th of July!!!! I hope all of you Americans out there have a happy day celebrating our country! Our kids can't wait for the parade (and the candy throwing!). I'm looking forward to enjoying small town America, time with family, iced coffee and gluten-free donuts, a picnic lunch, the blueberry pie and strawberry-rhubarb pie I know will be there, and watching the kids have fun!

Happy 4th of July to you and your family. It is sunny here today...so we'll celebrate and watch the fireworks just across the border. Last night I was standing at my kitchen door and could see the fireworks already starting. Amazing.
Hi Heather, thought I would respond to your orchid question here. 'flushing the roots' - once a week - I run water from the tap through the roots of the plant. You need to leave a little water in the bottom of the plant pot that your orchid sits in. They also love to have their blooms and leaves sprayed with fine water mist - they are tropical plants. Also - once the plant has finished flowering, do not cut off the flower stalk where the last blooms were. They will bud from there again. And patience is needed too :o) Mine was a 'stick' in December and finally bloomed in late April, so it took 4 months for it to bud and then bloom. Hope this helps :o) - Shirley Ann
