Words and Wool

I don't think any knitting has happened this week, rather, plenty of crochet on my afghan and I have gone back to sewing lots of wool flowers.

The big accomplishment of the week was finishing up two t-shirt quilts for a friend. This has been my big summer project and yesterday they were finally completed and delivered!

The quilts contain baby clothes worn by the two boys. It really turned out to be a lovely way to keep all those memories alive.

I thought this picture of the two girls was adorable! I'm glad they both love books!

As for reading this week, I finished two books and started some more! :)

The Trossachs (Beautiful Britain) by G E Mitton is a sweet little book with lovely color plates that describes the roadways of an area in Scotland called the Trossachs and connects it with Sir Walter Scott's and Wordsworth's writings. I read parts of this with map in hand so I will know what we need to see next year.

Sabbath: The Ancient Practices by Dan Allender is a book I have read for an online review, which will be published on this blog as soon as I complete it. The short synopsis is: this is a great book on the Sabbath (The Lord's Day) and I found it very thought-provoking, and helpful. As I said, more to come soon.......

And now to run off to our busy day which includes the beginning of Writing Class and Art Class as well as a soccer game!

Oh my goodness, the quilts are priceless! What a wonderful keepsake for them.

Having children that enjoy reading is fantastic! The picture of both of them is too cute!

I was just dreaming about the Trossachs today as a postcard from two of our church members was read out in church this morning - they'd been there last week.

I'll be interested to read your review of the Sabbath book.

And - lovely quilts and reading girls!
