Emily's Shower

Emily's bridal shower was almost 6 weeks ago and I haven't gotten around to posting any pictures! Christina did an amazing job of hosting the party and we all had a lovely time.

Christina found 3 family wedding dresses to display. Here is one from a great-grandmother:

The food was delicious!!! Personal quiches, scones, muffins, fruit salad, spinach salad, and creme brûlées!

It was quite the gathering of people. Here is the front room filled with chatting ladies.

Our maternal grandmother's wedding dress:

The back of our paternal grandmother's dress:

Present-opening time! Emily and Craig have found a house to rent so they have been taking things over to get organized before the big day!

Christina had everyone bring a favorite recipe and interspersed the recipes with pictures from Emily's wedding shopping outing.

And now I must go and type up the wedding flower order........it's due tomorrow!!!!

Visiting from Writing from Scotland - I read your comment about your husband's PhD being from Aberdeen. Mine was too - I wonder if we were the same era? My research stint was from 82 to 85, although I also did my undergraduate degree there from 77 to 82 (French).

Your bridal shower preparations look so elegant. Is it a tradition to have family wedding dresses on display or is that your own personal touch? Bridal showers weren't invented here when I was married, and we're not in a wedding phase of life at the moment, so I don't know if they've become part of Scottish life - our children are 21 and 18, so hopefully a few years yet before that stage!

It is so beautiful to see the vintage wedding dresses displayed. I recently put my mom's on again and it always feels special. The shower looks just wonderful.
