December 1

The first day of December! It feels like a day to savor since from here on out December will roll on with ever increasing speed.

We were back to school with diligence after Thanksgiving break and there was the added incentive of getting out the Christmas decorations box so everyone could have their lights to decorate their bedrooms with.

The advent calendars are all hung and it took some texting back and forth with Rachel to figure out just whose calendar is whose.

I think I have our menu plan for the month and I am revising my traditional baking list to fit in more gluten free, dairy free items. I need to ask each family member to choose one baked good that they "can't live without" this season to make sure I get in the essential ones.

There was an hour for tea with several neighbors and then hours of errands, school run, and music lessons topped off by a very long and complicated trip to CVS to get one flu shot. But, there was time in the evening to begin the season's sewing projects which seem to be growing daily.

I set up the ceramic Christmas tree today. Last year I forgot about it and was so disappointed. Now it makes me happy.

My mom had one like that! I haven't a clue what happened to it when she passed away.

Just beginning to decorate here at home. I started decorating the tree and then found the lights aren't working. So before I go on with that, I need to head for the store!

I remember a ceramic tree too.

We've decorated the outside doors but lights have yet to go up.

The fruitcake is made. And slab pies made and in the freezer.

Now it's back to the projects, knit, crochet and stitched.
