December 8
Another week begun! We're studying a new composer this week -- Gershwin. We all agreed we like his work much better than Stravinsky's but I suppose it is all a matter of personal taste.
In the afternoon we hosted our annual Knitting Club Christmas Party. At our meetings we normally go around the circle and share what we are making or have made in the last month as well as something good and something bad that has happened in our lives. This time we also shared our favorite Christmas tradition. Before we enjoyed all the refreshments we did an ornament exchange -- each ornament handmade by one of the club members. It was great fun and I was so impressed with everyone's creativity.
And for our refreshments we had a triple-layer persimmon cake with persimmons grown by one of our club members! And we had cheeseballs and fancy homemade cookies and taffy and hot chocolate and tea! The girls also surprised me by organizing amongst themselves birthday cards for me. I think this year wins as the most cards received!
Last of all, Michael took me to dinner at India Palace -- one of my favorites! It's been such a full birthday weekend!
