Moving Along in December

My hands are stiff and cold as I type -- the weather has turned colder and I'm feeling it. We had a short snowfall last week and of course the kids had to make the most of it!

The Santa hats were found in the blanket trunk.

Laura learns fast. It seems she mostly knows how to fight with swords, shoot guns, and drive cars (complete with appropriate noises such as broom, broom, and bang, bang). I think someone is making her miniature sword and shield for Christmas. Can't wait to see it.

Hanging around the house are these lovely things: a wedding tin which was a gift from a friend (I've been wanting one so badly!), one of my favorite teas (Constant Comment), and some chocolate.

It's an official tradition: Goodwill shopping on the first weekend in December when everything is 50% off. We three sisters started at Starbucks and ended at 3 different Goodwills by the end of the day.

It turns out our town has a Christmas parade! The kids loved it!!

When the snow first started falling the kids bundled up in their coats and raced outside without Laura. She was distraught and came running into the kitchen with her coat and a baseball cap, hoping I would take her out.

Oh yes, snow is fun.

Today we are enjoying a day mostly at home, celebrating my birthday. There has been chocolate, tea with mint, gluten-free pizza, gluten-free cinnamon sugar muffins, magazine reading, Pinterest pinning, and sewing to come.....

Wow! have you really had five adorable children?! They're really all yours! I'm very impressed, especially as they are so close in age. You must have a wonderful family life. The photo of your little girl watching the snowflakes is just GORGEOUS! We're getting that chilling weather at the moment too. I had to force myself to crawl out of bed this morning! Vanessa xxx

Sounds like you are all having a very busy fun time. No snow here in the south yet but it is supposed to be getting colder next week. I don't want any snow until the boys are home for the holidays.
Keep warm Heather.
