The first 6 hours

We are grateful that things are going all right. Laura has a fever, but that is common after surgery. Her color looks good, and there are no scares yet. The next 24 hours are the most crucial as her heart tries to recover from being stopped while the repair was done. It is hard to see her upset when her eyes flutter open for bits of time. I think it is more stressful than we realize watching a recovering baby.

We are hoping to get some rest tonight and praying Laura will stay stable. If she does okay perhaps tomorrow we can get the ventilator out.

Thanks for praying!

So glad to hear the surgery went well. Collin was sedated and on a ventilator at first. Once the sedation was removed he started wanting to breathe on his own and fighting the ventilator. I think he was out of it by the second day. It was a relief to see him awake again.
I wish all the best for your little girl. Babies recover so much faster than adults. She'll be up and running around in no time. Hang in there. Hugs.
