Words and Wool

Here I am sitting on the floor in the kitchen during Potty Camp. Cousin John and Laura have been attending "Potty Camp" each morning this week. John is a star pupil. Laura, it has been decided, is not ready for potty training yet. This is sad news since I have a very pressing use for the diaper budget money. It looks like I'll be finding another creative solution other than the diaper money.......

Here and there I get time to continue work on my crochet afghan. I do love the colors and the crochet is very soothing. I finished another little knitting project this week but the photo will have to wait to be revealed at a later date. I'm still working on the white shawl as I find a chance.

Rachel is hard at work on her knitting for 4H as well as her embroidered Lord of the Rings quilt.

In the reading world I have begun a new author. Have any of you read Rosamunde Pilcher before? A friend recommended her to me and loaned me several books.
Coming Home is the book I have begun with. I was initially leery of beginning a 700-page book but am already 10% of the way through. Coming Home is set in England beginning in the 1930's and right now the book is about a young girl left in England at boarding school while her parents are working in India. I'm loving the book so far with its cozy descriptions of England and little things that make me feel at home in the story. Hopefully I'll just keep on loving it!

Do let me know if you have read any of her books or which ones you recommend. Thanks!

Potty Camp?
I wish I could see your project. But you look nice and cozy on the kitchen floor. Sometimes in the south its the coolest place in the house.

I haven't read any of hers but she has been recommended a LOT by blog readers who know how much I love Goudge and Stevenson.

I'll have to start looking for her books. Not that I don't have enough to read on the shelves but one can never have too many books about England. ;)

Potty Camp sounds like a really creative solution! I love that you're making good use of your time doing yarn work wherever you find a spare moment! I'll be praying that your pressing need for the diaper budget is supplied by the One Who is intimately acquainted with our every need. As far as Little Miss Laura - Potty Camp Dropout - well, I know this is extra work, but if you could make or borrow a dozen cloth diapers ( after a short break from Potty Camp perhaps) in her size you might just have her trained in a week or so. It's a really different feeling then the wick-away pampers and often great incentive to use the bathroom like a big girl. I know cloth is a lot of work though, and that's not what you need! Just a thought! You've got so much more experience than I!

how about getting a few pairs of those super absorbent girl knickers/pants that have that extra absorbent bit where it matters and that way she will be in 'proper' underwear instead of baby diapers... we have them here in Oz but you must have them surely over there too? thats what I did with my girls in that transition period.

Love her books! My favorite is 'The Shell Seekers'. Thanks for sharing about this one - I hadn't heard of it but am certainly going to source it through my library!

Enjoy her books, The Shell Seekers (1) and September (2) are very good. Winter Solstice is my favorite. Coming Home, I think one of my least liked.

I love Rosamunde Pilcher Books and have read many of them. I will be looking for this one soon.

I have observed Potty training camp often in the last few years...and always sigh with relief when they "get it".

I sure did enjoy the photos.
