Words and Wool

My most favorite thing that I finished this week was the bunny for Laura's birthday! Isn't she so cute!!! I love her! And, she was so nice and easy to make! I bought Posy Gets Cozy's pattern and used things I had on hand to create this bunny. The pattern was thorough and easy to follow. I highly recommend it!

Laura has never named any of her dollies before this point but when she opened the bunny on Saturday and I asked her what her name would be she said, "Olivia." So here is Olivia:

I also began making a fox and so far things are going much faster and easier than I planned! Check out the pattern! It is also too cute!

And I got one of my latest shawls blocked and mom tried it on for me. It is the Garter Leaves Shawl in sock yarn.

The weather has suddenly turned beautiful here and we are enjoying it as much as we can! I do love reading in the evenings with the windows open and sunlight still coming in!

Here's what's on the reading list right now:

The Lady of the Lake by Sir Walter Scott. I need to get some Scott read before we take our trip! I hope I have time for several of his novels.

is a book filled with beautiful watercolor illustrations by E W Halslehust. I've just begun it and look forward to the descriptions and paintings it contains. I couldn't find exactly the same book on Amazon, but here is one part of it: Loch Lomond, the Trossachs and Loch Katrine-Our Beautiful Homeland-Scotland

In Search of Swallows and Amazons: Arthur Ransome's Lakeland by Roger Wardale. We can't wait to actually see the place where Swallows and Amazons came into being and this book should help us to locate some of the most important places to visit.

And now, back to life......

I love the bunny - and your shawl is so beautiful - finished off with such a pretty flower! I just frogged a 1/2 finished cotton sweater I found at Sally Ann - the yarn is so odd, but I love it - it's a tubular knit but flat! There were several unused balls in the bag but no pattern. I'd love to make a simple vest - remembering my skills are quite basic, and I don't have a knitting friend to get help from - can you recommend a pattern to try? The yarn is Linguini by Tahki Yarns and was made in Italy - two strands were knit together - I have about 6 balls of cream and 6 of an oatmeal colour! the full balls are 103 yards. Thanks!

Oh my goodness, everything is so beautiful, the bunny and shawl! And Scotland! How exciting, I would love to go. I'm reading a set of books right now that are written about the Hebrides, so charming. A friend who lives there sent them to me, they are by Lillian Beckwith, I think that is the spelling!d

Olivia is just lovely. Alicia makes such lovely kits/patterns - this bunny is one of my favourites, I love the boots.
