Easter Lunch

Yesterday was delightful. In between church services there was plenty of good food and fellowship.

Em did the flowers:

There were Easter eggs for the children's table:

Cupcakes waiting for dessert:

The table all read and waiting for dinner:

My three boys:
Grandma and David:

Punch to go with the appetizers:

There were Hot Cross Buns, fruit, mini quiches, baby sausages and shrimp:

Trying not to eat too much before lunch:

We made the Pavlova from a recipe in the current issue of Gourmet. It is filled with lemon curd and topped with berries -- incredible! And check out the size -- huge! (I did double the recipe):

Easter candy is so beautiful:

And jelly beans are so hard to resist:

Especially for a certain child and a certain mother (mother not pictured):

The Salad: spinach, strawberries, blue cheese and a few onions:

The dinner: ham, asparagus, sweet potato gratin, potatoes with leeks, fruit salad and buns:

The children's table -- I didn't get a picture of the adults:

The table was so colorful and everyone's outfits added to it:

Then came tea-time:
And the Easter-egg china -- my favorite:

These cookies, made by Carla, were a hit. They were shortbread that melted in your mouth, filled with an almond cream!

Besides Pavlova, cookies, and cupcakes, we also had chocolate covered strawberries!

One happy boy! He is eating a gluten-free cupcake and loving it!

Easter dinner is over for another year. A new week has started and there is plenty to do......

Heather - everything looks wonderful!! What a lovely time everyone enjoyed in your home - and all that wonderful eye-appealing food! Oh my! I didn't take ONE picture of our dinner or guests yesterday - terrible, I know! We were running late since church went way over time - like an hour over time! It was wonderful but nerve wracking since we are out of practice having company, but my Historian prayed, I calmed and all in all it was a delightful day - just no pictures!

Hiya...I'd just like to say Happy Easter to you & your lovely family...looks like you had a wonderful time together.

Oh and before I go how did you make the nest decorations on your cup cakes?

Looks like a really nice day. The pavlova looks good, I love making lemon curd so I might try this.
A lovely set of photos, you have very photogenic children and Rachel's dress is so pretty, she looks very elegant with her hair up.

Hi Heather,

Just wanted to leave a message to say how much I enjoy reading your blog. You are so talented.

The picture of the painted eggs reminds me of my childhood when my mum always painted an egg for me and we would roll it down a hill on Easter Monday. In fact she was saying on Sunday that next year she will be back to painting eggs again for her grandchild.

Your table is set beautifully and the food looks delicious. A real inspiration for how I should spend some of my maternity leave!

I missed your flower comp but my favourites must be David Austen roses (I discovered them when choosing flowers for my wedding bouqet). They are hard to describe but are like a cross between a traditional rose and a peony.

Hope you are all well.
