Thanksgiving Giveaway

It's been awhile since I've done a giveaway and I thought I would remedy that with this cookbook from Williams-Sonoma. You can read details about the book here on Amazon.

Just leave a comment telling me your favorite Thanksgiving food and I will pick a winner sometime after 5 p.m. on Wednesday. I am happy to ship the book to the United States and Canada.

In my kitchen I've been busy making lots of gluten-free things for Andrew. I now make his bread, and I'm just starting research on what to do about Christmas cookies. Saturday, while baking my order of biscotti, I found I could make a gallon of yogurt and clean the kitchen at the same time! Anything I can do to multi-task helps in the long run.

Tonight we'll be enjoying the last half of a large pot of ham and split pea soup. The recipe was so simple and I will definitely have to share it sometime. And, I'm a guest blogger over at Simple Frugal Living today and you will find my very favorite dinner recipe posted there.

It's gotta be the stuffing! I use my mom's recipe which includes raisins and sliced water chestnuts.

Thanksgiving was a new holiday for me when I moved here 10 years ago. I was introduced to many different foods and recipes. And one of my favorite things has been the pecan pie!

I'm entering for my sister who is in Canada. She is just learning all about Thanksgiving and celebrating it with her Canadian family - she loves to cook Turkey, perhaps because it's not something we traditionally have for celebrations in NZ, though it is becoming more popular and we both are yet to discover the best way to cook it!

Heather, I've been doing gluten free for several of my family for awhile now. I've found some really great books, and just recently one kid friendly one...would you like to swap recipe books and favorite recipes??

Love to all,
Mrs. Lewis

I love corn cake. I know it sounds weird but we love it. Kind of like the stuff you would get at Don Pablos. Yummy.

Oh fun!
About the gluten free. .do try to make Marg's Hazelnut Roll. It freezes really well. Do you have hazelnut farms out there? That could be a problem to find the ground hazelnuts. I just stopped at our local hazelnut farm and purchased the hazelnuts already ground.

So...my favorite fall food? Sweet Potato Puff. I could eat the whole dish.

I would have to go with sweet potatoes! My kids love them as well.

I'm not sure I can narrow it down to just one thing because Thanksgiving involves all the family traditions in food. First there is my mom's turkey and stuffing (carved by Dad), her own recipe for pumpkin pies (she likes them spiced), my cousin's homemade noodles for topping mashed potatoes, I make the rolls and pecan pies (recipe given to me at my bridal shower), my aunt's Waldorf salad, our friend's New England corn pudding (because she really is from New England) - but if you make me choose, it would be the pumpkin pies. My mother makes lots of them because we eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner for as long as they'll last. I've been known to hide the pie from the rest of my family so it lasts longer.

I think I would have to say the Pumpkin pie. I use my Mom's recipe with my Aunt's crust recipe and they are delicious. I've never had any that compare. Happy Thanksgiving to you!

I got diagnosed with Celiac disease May 2010 and have been gluten free ever since, so last Christmas was my 1st GF one. Have you ever made pizzelles? We are not Italian, but my mom makes tons every Christmas and gives out a lot as gifts. We followed her usual recipe (the one that came with the pizzelle iron 30 years ago) with simply substituting Bob's Red Mill GF flour and they tasty and wonderful as usual! We prefer them with vanilla extract, but many people like the anise flavor as well.

I just wanted to share this story - you don't need to enter me in the giveaway. I'm sure someone else would make better use of that particular cookbook than myself.
